One of the ways conservatives have convinced many Americans to think of themselves as conservative is by changing lots of good old American words into dirty word.  For example:

LIBERAL -- means:  "Belonging to the people...Generous...Tolerant of views differing from one's own...Broad-minded...Democratic forms of government as distinguished from monarchies, aristocracies, etc....Favoring reform or progress, Favoring democracy and personal freedom for the individual...Progressive..." (Webster's New World Dictionary 3rd College Ed.).  Conservatives must oppose the above virtues because they try to make "liberal" a dirty word.  But really!  Do we want to be less than:  generous, tolerant, broad-minded, democratic or favoring personal freedom or progress, etc.?  Are you more like or more unlike liberals?  Think about that!

Liberals passed laws taking children out of sweatshops, set at least minimal standards for safety in American factories and mines; allowed unions to exist; slowed down corporate monopolies which would gobble up the country if left unrestrained; and established a minimum wage, overtime pay, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.  Most of these liberal policies were and still are opposed by conservatives.

Join us in standing up for those who need our help, not just for the rich and powerful who are helped by the conservatives.  People are more important than profits.
