What's This "Global War on Terror"?

In his attacks on his Iraq War critics, President Bush claimed that he was engaged in a "global war on terror."  Why he thought this had something to do with the Iraq invasion is a mystery.

In the name fo the
"global war on terror", the President has caused hundreds to be imprisoned for years without charges and without the ability to communcate with theri families.  He had hundreds picked up and imprisoned without a hearing, often transported from their home country to countries where they will be secretly tortured to try to get "information".  Some were put in secret gulags formorly used to imprison and torture citizens of the U.S.S.R.  The Red Cross, families and their home countries were kept from seeing or talking to these prisoners (called "detainees" in newspeak).  Most have just disappeared and no one knows if they are dead or alive.

We were told by the Administration that the hundreds of "detainees" imprisoned on our Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay Cuba and elsewhere are prisoners of war who can be held "for the duration" without charges, trial, or the right to lawyers.

We ask:  If imprisoning "enemy combatants" will continue for the "duration," how will we know when the "duration" is over?  With whom can we sign a peace treaty to end this war?  Who do we talk to about peace?  Or do the "neoconservatives" intend to indefinely exercise the extraordinary powers we allow our govwernment in wartime?  We are creating more terrorists than we are killing or imprisoning so the "war on terrorism" can go on forever.

SOLUTIONS:

1.  STOP ALL OF THE WAR MONGERING.

2.  REJOIN THE FAMILY OF NATIONS AND RETURN TO WORKING WITH OUR HISTORICAL ALLIES.

3.  REJECT THE USE OF TORTURE, SECRET PRISONS, AND ARROGANCE THAT HAVE MADE THE UNITED STATES WHAT MANY CALL THE MOST DESPISED COUNTRY ON EARTH.
